Latinam

Rerum creator optime

rectorque noster, respice;

nos a quiete noxia

mersos sopore libera.

Te, sancte Christe, poscimus;

ignosce tu criminibus,

ad confitendum surginmus

morasque noctis rumpimus.

Mentes manusque tollimus,

Propheta sicut noctibus

nobis gerendum praecipit

Paulusque gestis censuit.

Vides malum quod gessimus;

occulta nostra pandimus,

preces gementes fundimus;

dimitte quod peccavimus.

Sit, Christe, rex piisime,

tibi Patrique gloria

cum Spiritu Paraclito,

in sempiterna saecula. Amen.

English

O Creator of all things, most great,

and our ruler, look upon us!

We, from the noxious quiet,

immersed in deep sleep, liberate!

Thee, Holy Christ, we ask;

forgive, Thee, the crimes,

To confess, we rise

and the pauses of the night, we break.

Minds and hands, we raise,

just as the Prophet in the nights

teaches us how to conduct ourselves

and Paul, in conduct, instructed.

Thou see the evil that we bear;

Our secrets, we lay bare,

prayers, we pour out weeping

forgive what we have sinned.

May it be, O Christ, king most loving,

and to Thee Father, Glory

with the Spirit Paraclete,

in every age. Amen.
